Status and ecology:

National Status: Common

A rather uncommon resident with a wide scattering of records, preferring deciduous woodland and hedgerows. Single-brooded, flying mainly from late May to July or August. The larval food plants are oak, elm, maple, wild rose and hawthorn. (Pratt, 2011)
