Status and ecology:

National Status: Common

A resident species. Larvae are often common in deciduous woods in both vice-counties. Probably generally distributed in the west, but apparently less so in the east. Perhaps seriously under-recorded. Single-brooded, flying mainly from late April to the third week of July. Larvae feed on oak and sweet chestnut. (Pratt, 2011)
