Status and ecology:

A resident which usually occurs singly or sparingly at mv light in a wide range of habitats, but it is occasionally fairly common on vegetated shingle beaches, near the coast and on heathland. Seriously decreasing and now only found in three distinct zones, in the far east, in central parts and in the far west. Single brooded, flying mainly from the second week of June to late August, occasionally from early June. Larvae feed on Petty Whin, Broom, and Gorse, including Dwarf Gorse. It has also been sugested that they "probably" eat "Laburnham in gardens". (Pratt, 2011)
