Status and ecology:

A resident that usually occurs sparingly but it is occasionally fairly common at mv light in a wide range of habitats, woodland being the most favoured. Widespread, but very local in numbers and distinctly irregular in appearance in some places. Apparently declining in the north-east. Usually single-brooded, flying mainly from late May to mid July, sometimes from the second week of May. An occasional partial second emergence flies chiefly from late July to mid September. Adults have been seen in every week from late April to the third week of September. Larvae feed on Dandelion and Chickweed. (Pratt, 2011)
