Status and ecology:

A resident that usually occurs singly or sparingly, although it is sometimes fairly common at mv light in parts of East Sussex; in danger of extinction in West Sussex. Colonies are largely confined to reedbeds within three miles of the seashore between Eastbourne and the Kent border, and to the Arundel district. Very local and irregular in appearance, and in decline. Double-brooded, flying mainly from early June to early July, sometimes from late May or to mid July, and again from late July to late September. Adults have been seen in every week from late May to late September. A record said to have been seen in April is erroneous. The larval foodplant has not been recorded in Sussex, although various species of Bedstraw have been listed from elsewhere. (Pratt, 2011)
