Status and ecology:

A resident species in decline away from the east, usually occurring sparingly, but sometimes fairly common to common at mv light in woods. Only thinly distributed and rare along some parts of the coast. High numbers are very local and irregular. Single-brooded, flying mainly from early May to mid-July. Larvae feed on birch, oak and sloe. (Pratt, 2011)
