Status and ecology:

Resident. Adults are often fairly common to common at mv light on the downs, on heaths and in a few woods, while larvae are often more numerous. Widespread but local in high numbers. Single-brooded flying mainly from mid June to late August in most habitats. Larvae feed on ragwort, yarrow, wild golden rod, ornamental golden rod and wormwood in most habitats, the flowers of heather on heath land. (Pratt, 2011).
