Status and ecology:

A resident species which usually occurs sparingly or fairly commonly but it is occasionally common by day and at mv light on heathery tracts in the north. In decline. Probably single-brooded with an occasional partial second overlapping emergence, flying mainly from mid June to late August. Larvae feed on heather. (Pratt, 2011)
