A resident species, usually occurring singly or sparingly at mv light in a wide range of habitats, but sometimes fairly common in deciduous woodland. Widespread and perhaps generally distributed, but local and irregular in any numbers. Single-brooded, flying mainly from mid-March to late May. Larvae feed on loosestrife, meadow-sweet, dyer's greenwood, bog-myrtle and aspen, with egg-laying also noted on knapweed, bramble and bracken. (Pratt, 2011)
