Status and ecology:

A resident species in decline, usually occurring singly or sparingly in a wide range of habitats, but occasionally fairly common to common at mv light on the Downs. Well distributed on and near chalk, but scarce elsewhere. Local and distinctly episodic in numbers. Single-brooded, flying mainly from late June to mid to late August. Larvae feed on unspecified grasses. (Pratt, 2011)
