Status and ecology:

A resident species, common and occasionally locally very common at mv light in deciduous woods or heathland. Widespread, though missing from large areas. A single brooded species mainly flying from mid September to the second week of December. The larvae feed mainly on the flowers and unripe seeds of wych-elm and ash, and also on the leaves. (Pratt, 2011)
