Status and ecology:

A resident species, generally occurring singly or sparingly at mv light in deciduous woods. Very local and irregular in appearance it is well distributed in the north but less so in the south. Single-brooded, flying mainly from mid-July to late August. Larvae feed on sallow, including eared sallow. (Pratt, 2011)
