Status and ecology:

A resident species, generally occurring sparingly in a wide range of habitats, but sometimes fairly common to common at mv light in woods and on heathland. Well distributed and increasing but very local and irregular in any numbers. Double- or triple-brooded in overlapping flights from late May to mid-October. The larval foodplant in the wild is not known in this country. (Pratt, 2011)
