Status and ecology:

National Status: Local

Scarcely more than a handful of larval mines have ever been detected in Sussex. The opening county record was made in East Sussex in 1985. Since then there have been two further East Sussex records; in 2004 at Hurst Green on wild cherry and in 2009 near St Helens Wood (Hastings).
The first West Sussex encounter was a mine discovered on dwarf cherry at Stansted Forest on 13 October 2000. There have been five subsequent records in West Sussex. These were recorded from dwarf cherry and wild cherry and one record of an adult at mv light.
Nationally the species is double-brooded, with adults flying mainly during May and August. (Pratt, 2011)
