Scythris variella (Stephens, 1834) homonym

Status and ecology:

National Status: pRDB2

A proposed Red Data Book species, known from Hampshire, Dorset and Moray. The larvae feed on heathers from within a long silken tube that is buried in loose sand under the foodplants. Never recorded in Sussex but could possibly occur on one of the western heaths.
