Status and ecology:

National Status: Local

A resident, widespread species that is now in decline. It occurs singly at mv light and sparingly by day in a few woods across the county. It is single-brooded, flying mainly from mid May to late June. The larvae feed on birch and hazel although the species has also been associated with oak. (Pratt, 2011).
