Status and ecology:

National Status: Nationally Scarce B

A localised resident that normally occurs sparingly by day in a very few places in West Sussex. It is believed extinct in East Sussex having not been recorded since 1905. It is not known whether it has two broods but Sussex records fall between July and August. The larvae feed on buckthorn and alder buckthorn. (Pratt, 2011).
