Status and ecology:

National Status: Common

A resident species that usually occurs singly at mv light, occasionally sparingly, in a range of different habitats across the county, It is also sometimes common by day flying around its food plants. It is single-brooded, flying mainly from the third week of June to mid August, occasionally from mid June or to the third week of August. The larvae feed in the flowers and seed-heads of thistle, saw-wort and common knapweed. (Pratt, 2011).
