Status and ecology:

National Status: Local

A resident species that is widespread and episodic in numbers in the south but almost completely absent from the north of the county. It usually occurs singly or sparingly at mv light but is sometimes fairly common to common in reed-beds. It is single-brooded, flying mainly from early June to late August, occasionally to late September. The larvae feed inside the stems and rootstocks of common reed. (Pratt, 2011).
