Status and ecology:

National Status: Local

An immigrant and episodic resident species, whose adults usually occur singly, sometimes sparingly and occasionally fairly commonly by day and at mv light, especially along parts of the coast. Larvae are sometimes common. Scarce well inland. Currently resident in several spots within about seven miles of the seashore. Single-brooded, flying mainly from early June to late August. Larvae feed on the seed-heads of wild carrot and moon carrot. (Pratt, 2011).
