Status and ecology:

National Status: Common

A resident species, often common in gardens, but less frequent elsewhere; larvae occasionally very common. Generally distributed, but very local in numbers. Single-brooded, flying mainly from late May to late August. Larvae feed on stinging nettle. (Pratt, 2011).
