Status and ecology:

National Status: Common

A resident species, often fairly common to common by day, but only occurring sparingly at mv light; larvae occasionally very common. Well distributed, probably generally so close to the coast, but less so well inland. Local in numbers. Single-brooded, flying mainly from early June to mid-September. Larvae feed on elder. (Pratt, 2011).
