Incurvariidae

140 (Large Long-horn), Nematopogon swammerdamella (Linnaeus, 1758)

Status and ecology:

National Status: Common

A resident species. Generally occurs sparingly at mv light, although it is sometimes fairly common to common in a wide range of habitats in both vice-counties. Widespread, but probably seriously under-recorded. Single-brooded with a two year life cycle, adults fly mainly from late April to the third week of June, occasionally to late June. Larvae feed on dead leaves, though this has yet to be confirmed in Sussex. (Pratt, 2011)
