Incurvariidae

141 (Sandy Long-horn), Nematopogon schwarziellus (Zeller, 1839)

Status and ecology:

National Status: Common

A resident species usually seen in singletons at mv light in a few places in both vice-counties, although it occasionally occurs sparingly in a few shrubby places in the west. Perhaps missing from large areas, but more probably seriously under-recorded. Single-brooded with a two year life cycle, adults fly mainly from late May to the second week of June, occasionally from late April or to late June. Larvae feed on dead leaves, although this has yet to be confirmed in Sussex. (Pratt, 2011)
