Status and ecology:

National Status: Adventive

Resident. Larvae are sometimes common amongst neglected vegetables; adults are only rarely found naturally away from the warmth and shelter provided by domestic houses, grocers and other retail stores, health shops, agricultural warehouses, and outbuildings associated with animal or human foodstuffs. Adults have been recorded in every month of the year except January. Larvae feed on flour, dogs' biscuits, Brazil nuts, walnuts, breakfast cereals, cake and dried animal pet food. (Pratt, 2011).
