Status and ecology:

National Status: Local

Resident . Occurs singly at mv light, especially on the chalk between Arundel and Eastbourne. Distinctly episodic in its appearance. Double-brooded flying mainly during the first three weeks in June and again from the third week of July to mid August, occasionally from the second week of July or to early September. Larvae feed in the crowns of ploughman’s spikenard and carline thistle elsewhere (Beiren, 1954), but none of the insect’s early stages have been found in Sussex. (Pratt, 2011)
