1724 Red Twin-spot Carpet, Xanthorhoe spadicearia ([Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775)

Status and ecology:

A resident that often occurs sparingly or fairly commonly at mv light in a wide range of habitats, and it is sometimes common amoungst deciduous woodland and in bushy places. Probably generally distributed. Double-brooded, flying mainly from late April to early June and again from the second week of July to late August, although adults have been seen in every week from the second week of April to the same week in October. The later examples may be representatives of a partial third emergence, as recorded on October 8th 1996 at Crowborough. Larvae feed on Bedstraw and Ground Ivy. (Pratt, 2011)
