1820 Pinion-spotted Pug, Eupithecia insigniata (Hübner, 1790)

Status and ecology:

National Status: Nb

Resident species usually occurring in singletons at mv light in bushy places. Widespread in south-west and extreme south-east corner of the county, but almost completely missing from elsewhere. Very local, enigmatic, and distinctly irregular in appearance. Single-brooded, flying mainly throughout May, occasionally from late April or to mid June. Laval foodplant has not been reported from Sussex, but hawthorn is known to serve elsewhere. (Pratt, 2011).
