1891 Dusky Peacock, Macaria signaria (Hübner, 1809)

Status and ecology:

A suspected immigrant and temporary resident species occurring singly to mv light seen sparingly among evergreen woodland in the extreme east of the county. Two flight seasons; late June to late July and again in September. Less than a dozen sightings have been recorded county-wide the most recent being (1996 Beckley; 2005 Beckley; 2007 Beckley and 2008 Broad Oak). Larvae yet to be discovered in the county but they feed on Scots pine and western hemlock abroad. (Pratt 2011)
