Noctuidae

2119 Pearly Underwing, Peridroma saucia (Hübner, 1808)

Status and ecology:

An annual immigrant and suspected infrequent transitory resident. It occurs singly or sparingly in a wide range of habitats, although it is occasionally common to fairly common to mv light along the coast. Adults can appear almost anywhere in the county, but are local and distinctly episodic in numbers. Landfalls are generally made between the second week of August and mid November. Larval foodplants have not been reported in Sussex but unidentified wild and cultivated herbaceous plants serve elsewhere. (Pratt, 2011)
