Noctuidae

2140 White-marked, Cerastis leucographa ([Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775)

Status and ecology:

A resident species generally occuring singly at mv light in woodland rides and clearings in the north of the west of the county, although it is sometimes fairly common in the Petworth area. It has been presumed extinct in the east of the county since the 1930's. Very local and episodic in any numbers. Single-brooded flying mainly from late March to late April. The larval foodplant has yet to be discovered in the wild in this country, although the adults are associated with mature oak in this county. (Pratt, 2011)
