2182 Small Quaker, Orthosia cruda ([Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775)

Status and ecology:

A resident species, fairly common to common in deciduous woods throughout, but sometimes very common to abundant in the north and north-west, while singletons predominate along treeless parts of the coast. Probably generally distributed but local in high numbers. Single-brooded, flying from mid-February to late April. Larvae feed on oak, silver birch, sallow, lime and rose. (Pratt, 2011)
