2276 Pale-lemon Sallow, Xanthia ocellaris (Borkhausen, 1792)

Status and ecology:

National Status: Na

A suspected immigrant and episodic resident. Generally occurs singly, occasionally sparingly at mv light, mainly near the coast. Very irregular in appearance, but increasing. A single brooded species, flying mainly from the second week of September to the third week of October. The larvae have yet to be found in this county, but the foodplants are listed elsewhere as initially the catkins of poplar (esp black poplar) and later the leaves of herbaceous plants. (Pratt, 2011)

Appeared regularly in small numbers (max 5) at Bracklesham from mid-September to early October 2010.
