Noctuidae

2334 Rustic Shoulder-knot, Apamea sordens (Hufnagel, 1766)

Status and ecology:

Resident. In danger of extinction in both vice-counties. Normally occurs singly or sparingly in a wide range of grassy habitats along parts of the coast. Very local and distinctly episodic in numbers. In serious decline. Single-brooded, flying mainly from the second week of May to early July. Occasionally from late April or to mid July. The larval foodplants have not been determined in Sussex but cock’s-foot and other unidentified grasses serve elsewhere. (Pratt, 2011)
