Status and ecology:

A resident species occurring sparingly inland but more commonly in a wide range of habitats within a few miles of the coast. The number of broods is uncertain as adults are almost continuously present from spring to autumn. Larvae feed on wheat, peas and other seeds. (Pratt, 2011)
