Status and ecology:

National Status: Local

A resident species, all stages occurring singly or sparingly in deciduous woods and lanes in the West where they are sometimes common at Walberton and Woods Mill; colonies are apparently much less frequent in the East. Double-brooded, flying mainly throughout July and then from mid-September to late October, re-emerging the following March and April. Larvae feed on field maple. (Pratt, 2011)
