Status and ecology:

National Status: Common

The first East Sussex specimen was encountered in Ashdown Forest in 1983. There have since been a few more East Sussex records all on the same foodplant – alder.
The initial West Sussex record was in St Leonards Forest in 1962. There have been several subsequent records – all on alder. (Pratt, 2011).
