Status and ecology:

National Status: Nb

Resident. Adults usually occur singly or sparingly, although larvae are sometimes fairly common; in danger of extinction in East Sussex. Colonies are few, extremely local, and often restricted to one particular tree. Single-brooded, flying mainly during July. Larvae feed on the bark of cultivated apple, crab-apple, and probably pear. (Pratt, 2011).
