Status and ecology:

National Status: Common

A resident species, usually occurring singly or sparingly at mv light in wooded habitats in both vice-counties, although it is occasionally fairly common at Marley Common. Widespread. Single-brooded, flying mainly from early June to the second week of August, occasionally from late May or to late August. Larvae feed on the catkins and young shoots of silver birch and alder. (Pratt, 2011).
