Status and ecology:

National Status: Unknown

The second UK record (the first was made in Berkshire in 2011) was of an adult that came to a 125 watt mv light in Brookhouse Wood near Ardingly at about midnight on July 27/28th 2012 by D. and P. Dave and Pen Green: 01-08-2012

This species was first recorded in the UK on 19th August 2011 in Wokingham, Berks, and the first Sussex and second UK record was on 27th July 2012 with one to MV light. This species is widely distributed on the continent, and it's larvae are found in the dead wood of deciduous trees often under loose bark. Its larvae are also said to feed on Cramp Ball/King Alfred's Cake fungus. Adults fly in the afternoon and early evening and again at dawn, but are also attracted to light occasionally. (Palm, E. 1989, Nordeuropas Prydvnger, Fauna Boger, Copenhagen).
