Status and ecology:

National Status: Common

A resident species, generally occurring singly within a few miles of the coast in both vice-counties, although often common at Walberton. Single-brooded, flying mainly from early July to mid-September, then again after hibernation from late March to mid-May. Larvae feed on thistle and probably knapweed. (Pratt, 2011)
