Nepticulidae

91 (Brown-tipped Pigmy), Stigmella minusculella (Herrich-Schäffer, 1855)

Status and ecology:

National Status: pRDB1

A sighting said to have been anonymously made in West Sussex in the year of 1800 is in error. In 1898 and 1899 W. H. B. Fletcher found that the larvae of minusculella - now a proposed Red Data Class 2 species were sometimes abundant in domestic gardens in Worthing and Bognor but no latter Sussex records have ever been made. (Pratt, 2011)
