Status and ecology:

National Status: Common

A widespread resident species that usually occurs sparingly or fairly commonly at mv light although it is sometimes locally common in a few places. Single brooded flying from late May to early September. The larvae feeds on the roots of knapweed and scabious. (Pratt, 2011).
