Status and ecology:

National Status: Common

A very local and declining resident now confined to heathery commons in the Midhurst area, and at one known locality in Ashdown Forest where it was formerly widespread. Two very short broods: late April-early May and late July-early August. Larval food plants are heather, buckthorn, grasses and petty whin. (Pratt, 2011)
